Filmed Theatre work
Over the last few years I’ve worked with theatre makers to translate their projects into film. Whether it’s promos for works in progress or feature-length shows, I love the limitation and freedom that comes with crossing these two mediums. The result is ideally a balance between the authenticity of theatre and the cinematic possibilities of film.
KENREXI recently worked with writer-perfomer Jack Holden, musician John Patrick Eliott and writer-director Edward Stambollouian to make promos for their show that started in Sheffield, went to London and is heading to NYC.
ANTON CHECHOV’S ALBATROSS
A recent promo made around a readion of a new play by Adam Meggido.
CRUISE I shot and edited this musical for the Stream.Theatre platform. It went on to play at the West End and Manchester as well as being nominated for an Olivier Award. It was written and performed by Jack Holden, composed by John Elliot and directed by Bronagh Lagan.
A NIGHT OF MISTAKES
I directed and edited a short film with Bareface, a disabled theatre company. As with Cruise it became a film project as a result of lockdown restrictions. The film is a meta-narrative about the three performers’ experience of taking their show on the road. It was selected for the Bolton International Film Festival.
THE MEEMAW PROJECT
A promo for a work-in-progress project about deafness written by Sophie Crawford, directed by Juliet Knight and choreographed by Hannes Langolf.
MILLTOWN
I made a promo with John Elliot for his one-man musical show in developement.
